Macedonian Woman's Rights Center - Shelter Center is
non-governmental, non-politic and non-profitable,
advocacy and lobbying women's organization, established on 5th of
February 2001, and works for affirmation, implemen- tation and
protection of women's rights.
French Embassy in Skopje and "France Cooperation Internationale" organized a
regional conference on the "Domestic Violence : Order and Procedures as Response"
held at 28th and 29th
Septemberin Skopje.
The WAVE (Women
Against Violence Europe) network this year organized the 11th conference which
took place in Vienna
from September 24th to 26th at the Vienna University of Technology. The WAVE network gathers once a year
it's Focal Point Delegates from 47 countries to exchange expertise. Macedonian Women's Rights Centre - Shelter
Centre thus is a member country due to the cross cutting issues with the network.
On 09.09.2009 a consultative meeting within the
project "Joint Programme for Strengthening National Capacities to Prevent
Domestic Violence" was organized and held by UNIFEM office Macedonia. The
aim of this consultative meeting was to take the notes from the NGO sector
regarding the draft law on free legal aid with purpose to establish
standardized national protection system for the victims of domestic violence.
In compliance with the Free Legal Aid project , Macedonian Woman's
Rights Center has work out the positive legislation regarding the instruments
of protection of victims of domestic violence, hence, haspublishedthe "Assessment of Legal Acts and Mechanisms Against Marginalization and
Discrimination of Women" .
Within the project"Prevention andrepression of domestic violence in the republic of Macedonia"a study visit was organizedby the Austrian organization WAVEin Austria from 05-08.07.2009.
