Image The WAVE (Women Against Violence Europe) network this year organized the 11th conference which took place in Vienna from September 24th to 26th at the Vienna University of Technology. The WAVE network gathers once a year it's Focal Point Delegates from 47 countries to exchange expertise.  Macedonian Women's Rights Centre - Shelter Centre thus is a member country due to the cross cutting issues with the network.


The agenda of the conference included many important events such as panes discussions and workshops tackling the issues regarding international measures to end violence against women,  rights of migrant and refugee women - victims of violence, strategies to end impunity of (sexual) violence against women and update of quality standards in women services (focus on shelters and counseling centers). When it comes to the abovementioned quality standards, representative from our organization Ms Ardita Istrefi held presentation regarding the services that we are offering with aim to provide efficient and well-timed shelter for women.

In that regard the mandate of acting for assistance, the implementation of the activities within the established programs, the condition of the shelter where we are providing the services, the problems women are facing while staying there and providing the necessary level of security as a criteria which is set as a international standard.

After the presentation Ms Istrefi gave accent was to more specific issues such as the location of the shelter and the urge of its replacement to another place. Regarding this, several concrete initiatives were made in order to enhance the service of direct assistance for accommodation and caring of the victims through enlargement of the capacities of our shelter.

Initiatives for joint action and networking also were taken among the representatives which will lead to concrete positive changes for the beneficiaries.
