Macedonian Woman Right's Centre - Shelter Centre is non-governmental, non-politic and non-profitable, advocacy and lobbying women's organization, that works for affirmation, implementation and protection of women’s rights.

Shelter Center was opened on February 5th 2001in cooperation with Ministry for labor and social policy, based in Skopje, capital of Macedonia, this is the only organization of this kind and its functioning on national and International level.

The biggest challenges to women in this community are related to realization of complete equality and creation of conditions where women will enjoy all rights and freedoms. In the 21st century, the era of technical and technological development, Macedonia is still holding on to some patriarchal principles, according to which the woman is still on some level lower then her husband. This fact is easy to fell in everyday life and behavior and life, but with difference from past decades women are now ready to fight for the equal rights necessary for every person regardless of nationality, religion, gender, sexual belonging. This field was of great interest for establishing our organization because we are the first and only concerned with such problems and such a target group.

The Shelter Center is autonomy women organization composed only of women. Shelter Center has an executive committee composed of 8 members, who bring decisions in the center. In the work of the Shelter Center two groups are included. The staff that is permanently included in the center is composed of: president, pedagogue, economist, psychologist, doctor, sociologist, lawyer and social worker. And the second group is composed of volunteers; mostly students who are participate in the campaigns, seminars and workshops. All members of this organization are working as a team, and they have an equal access to all information, to all process of planning and making decisions.
